Midlands North 'Queen of Clubs' 2015
It was the turn of Nottinghamshire to host the Queen of Clubs competition this year, for the Midlands North Region, which was played at Chilwell Manor Golf club on Friday 17th July. There was a field of 34 competitors, who were all club champions from their respective clubs in the 6 counties making up the Midland North region.
The weather was very pleasant, if just a little breezy, but just right for playing 36 holes of golf. The course at Chilwell received many compliments, (apart from some very difficult pin positions on some holes), and everyone was given a warm welcome by the staff and members.
Lady Captain Marylin Musson was there from the very beginning of the day, making sure that everything ran smoothly, and was still there at the end of the day for the presentation. Marion Price was kind enough to lend us her buggy for the day to enable the referee to get round the course, other ladies and the Gentlemens captain helped with starting duties and at the halfway house. The referees for the day were Maureen Clark and Joanna Smith, who were needed to give their advice in some tricky situations.
The winner of the Douglas Bowl was Helen Lowe from Scraptoft, with a gross score for the day of 148. The runner up, winning the salver, was Fern Clark from Brocton Hall with 158. Other winners of gross prizes were Debbie Deakin, Olivia Kelly, Sophie Johnson.
Sally Sparrow won the best nett of the day with 149, and other nett prize winners were Lorna Morris and Paula Drury.
Joan Underwood, the County President presented the prizes. Many thanks to all those taking part, to the staff and members at Chilwell, and the help given to me by our County Officials.

Mixed Am-Am 2015
As you are aware this competition is one where the girls raise funds for their own section by running the day. This year we moved it from April to July in the diary but it appears that this date change has proved difficult to secure entries and we have had to make the sad decision to cancel the date.
We have considered postponing to an alternative date later this year but finding an available date and course is proving difficult, so we are hoping to rearrange for next April instead and revert back to the usual date slot.
So thank you to all those girls and parents who were going to volunteer/donate raffle prizes etc., but you will get your chance to do that next year instead. Many thanks also to those teams who had already entered the competition; your entries and fees will be returned as soon as possible.
We must also thank Beeston Fields GC for offering to host the competition this year. Your support of the Junior Section is much appreciated.
Many thanks
Emma
