Due to last minute unavailability our squad was slightly amended from the one published after the County Championships. We headed into the tournament as reigning champions and as such were the team that everyone was “gunning for”.

A solid win against Derbyshire on the first morning gave us the start we were hoping for, but in the afternoon we were pitched against a youthful, highly talented Lincolnshire, who had strength in depth. We battled valiantly but their fire power proved too much for us.

On Saturday we achieved a win against Leicestershire in the morning and in the afternoon we played Shropshire. Historically they have been the weaker team in this tournament but this year they were a surprise package, fielding youngsters with much promise. We were edged out 3-2. Their final placing in the table was 2nd to Lincolnshire.

The final day was our closest contest of the week. All the games were extremely tight, four of them finishing on the 18th hole. In the final pairing, Maddie Smith holed out a clutch birdie put on the last to secure the win for Nottinghamshire.

Although we finished third some great golf was played. My thanks go to the Nottinghamshire team who have been an absolute pleasure to work with. Their attitude is tremendous and they are all very supportive of each other.

A big thank you to Julie Revill, my Vice Captain, who has given me massive support. Thanks also to Clare Jones & Gillian Stump and the senior players who have been great sounding boards throughout. I wish the team individual success for the rest of the season and thank them for their hard work and commitment. Thanks also to to all the supporters who travelled, they were treated to some excellent golf.
