County Captain's Day 2023

Thank you to all the ladies who supported my Captains Day at Sherwood Forest Golf Club on Monday 17th July. We had a capacity field of 32 teams. Sherwood was in excellent condition and, as usual, provided a stern test of golf. The weather was kind overall but was spoiled by a couple of cloudbursts, but luckily no thunder and lightening!

The winners with an excellent 85 points were Clare Jones, Rosemary Lockwood, Bernie Newlove and Ann Hunter from Wollaton Park. Second with 81 points were Sue West, Carol Wild, Kirsten Hardiker and Marion Turnbull from Notts Ladies. Another team from Notts Ladies, Glenys Priestley, Di Payne, Rita Monks & Pauline Tillcock claimed third place on countback from Kath Sharman, Eva Glasby, Julia Hatcher and Jane Tucker from Newark (78 points). Download full results here. Nearest the pin on the 4th Hole was Janet Batty from Serlby Park and on the 10th, Sue West from Notts. Well done both!

Thank you to all the volunteers from County and Sherwood Golf Club who worked very hard on the desk and as starters, spotters, raffle and halfway house. (I hear the Pimms and Gin & Tonic went down a treat.) The raffle raised a superb £390 to support the County Teams - thank you everyone! Thank you also to Sherwood Golf Club for generously allowing us to use the course, and to the staff who helped before and during the event.
