 County Championships 2013 

Championship2013AlexThe NCLGA County Championship this year was played at Wollaton Park Golf from 10th to 12th May. The weather was not kind on any of the 3 days, wind and on occasions, torrential rain. However some of the scores returned were excellent. The leading qualifier was Alex Peters, our home grown international, with rounds of 72 + 71 = 143, Runner up was Emma Newlove, Beeston Fields, 73 + 74 = 147
The winner of the 36 hole nett was Emma Newlove, 145, runner up Jessica Bailey also 145
 
The match play was contested over Saturday & Sunday with excellent golf from all qualifiers. The semi finals were between Alex and Lauren Spray of Stanton, a very tightly fought match with Alex winning on the 19th hole, and Emma Newlove and Emily Mae Hall, both of Notts Ladies, with Emma proving too strong for Emily Mae and winning 6/5.
The Final was very close for the first 9 holes, but in the end Alex showed her true strength winning 4/3.

Mixed Am-Am 2013

MixedAmAm2013The Mixed AmAm was held at Rufford Park on Sunday April 28th, a cold and blustery day.
Thank you to everyone who supported the event, by entering a team, sending raffle prizes, donations and helping on the day. The Lyle family kindly organised refreshments at the 9th which were appreciated and kept everyone going!
Thank you also to Rufford Park GC for giving us the tee times and looking after us so well.
The girls were well organised by Captain Emily Lyle and worked hard to make the day a success.
The day raised an amazing £774 for the Junior Fund.

County Waltz 2013

The County Waltz took place again this year at Beeston Fields Golf Club on Monday, 8th April, with the sole intention being to raise funds for the County 1st and 2nd teams.
29 teams took part with the eventual winners on 70 points being J. Doleman, J. Evans and F. Roberts (Rushcliffe and Trent Lock). Second place with 68 points went to the Newark team of E. Glasby, J. Tucker and K. Sharman. In third spot was the team from Retford on 66 points of B. Briggs, P. Fox and J. Birtles.
A bottle raffle was held (thank you for your kind donations) and overall an amazing total of just over £1100 was raised.
My thanks must go to Beeston Fields G.C. for kindly agreeing to host the event and to everyone that took part.

Home win for Janet Melville in senior championship

Home win! Janet Melville has won the English senior women's championship on her own course, Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire.

She beat defending champion Chris Quinn 2/1, sealing the victory with two great putts on the 16th and 17th. Her win was watched by a crowd of club members who rushed to congratulate her and she said: "It's absolutely amazing to win on my home course.

Match v Sheffield Union 2013

The annual match against the Sheffield Union of Golf Clubs was held at Rotherham G.C. on Tuesday, 9th April after being hurriedly re-arranged as the original venue (The Hallamshire) still had holes closed due to snow!

I am delighted to report that Notts were victorious this year 3-2! My thanks go to the Notts team of Lauren Spray, Emma Sheffield, Carol Wild, Laura Morris, Kathryn Horberry, Jane Fowler, Helen Maber, Dianna Payne, Hilary Horton and yours truly.
