County Championships & Spring Meeting 2016
The Notts. County Ladies' Golf Association County Championship and Spring Meeting took place at Sherwood Forest Golf Club from the 13th – 15th May 2016. On a fine day with a cold northerly wind our defending champion, Rachel Boulton, was in the first pairing to tee off on Friday morning. Some 18 players took part in the Championship playing 36 holes with the top 8 going through to the knock out stages over Saturday and Sunday.
Esme Hamilton returned a score of 79 in the morning and an even better gross score of 73 in the afternoon. Unfortunately, due to exam commitments, she was not available to play in the knock out match play. Lauren Spray was runner up with scores of 76 and 79. 21 additional players took part in the 18 holes Spring Meeting medal played alongside the morning round of the Championship qualifying stage.
The course was presented beautifully and in excellent condition. Despite the wind and some tricky pin placements there were some very good scores. Kristina Lazarevic had the best nett score of the morning with a 71 playing off 9 handicap.

Match v Sheffield Union 2016
The County opening fixture of the season is our annual fourball, scratch match against the Sheffield and District Union. This year we were the hosts and played at Notts Golf Club on Monday April 4th.
In mixed weather conditions, hailstones and all, we fought hard against a very competent opposition with two of their team, Becca Hembrough and Holly Morgan, playing off +1 handicaps. We witnessed some amazing golf on a course that was in excellent condition.
Sadly, we lost 4-1. Thank you to all my team, to Chris Hargreaves and Jane Fowler for winning their match and to Carol Houghton and Helen Maber, Cathy Burnside and Jan Hooley, Glenys Priestley and Vicki Forecast, Carol Wild and myself, who all battled hard and gave their best. As usual the team spirit was competitive but friendly.
Thank you to Notts Golf Club for looking after us so well and for their continuing support of the County Ladies.
Pam Loch (County Captain)
