League Match v Lincolnshire 2014

LeagueLincs2014aThe junior team started their defence of their midlands league title with their first match of the season on Sunday 6th April against Lincolnshire.

It was a blustery but dry day at Hollinwell and the Notts team had a huge advantage because for the majority of the girls it was their home course. This lead to a convincing win in the first team 6-0.

In the second team match Lincolnshire could only bring one player so our Notts player Esme Hamilton had an uphill task giving 16 shots away, but battled well to win on the 18th hole.

Paddy, the team mascot, was carried by Lianna for the match and it certainly brought her good luck as she had her first hole in one on the 5th hole...congratulations Lianna!!

A presentation evening was held at Rufford Park Golf Club on Friday 22nd November. A large group of girls, their parents, coaches and officials had a lovely meal and then the girls were presented with many of the trophies they had won during the 2013 season and certificates of achievement.
Many thanks to Margaret Brook for organising the evening.

Junior Competition Structure for 2014

GolfpartnershipNottinghamshire Golf is a collaboration between the NUGC, NCLGA, NPGA & NCGP to develop opportunities for junior golfers. Representatives from each organisation are working together to initially sustain more juniors in the game and provide talented players with additional opportunities to develop.

The overarching ambition is to create a seamless pathway from beginner to county player, ensuring every junior has the opportunity to progress. This new structure will be replacing those competitions previously run by The Coach Academy and those competitions previously run for girls without handicaps.

The Nippers Tour is the first step on the pathway for those under 12, alternatively for those aged 13 and above without handicaps they can begin on the Rookie Tour. Once juniors have attained their handicaps they can then progress onto the main Junior Order of Merit. This will provide the opportunity to play a variety of courses across the county, which will develop their skills.

Notts retain the Midlands North Trophy

The Junior Scratch Team have won the league for the third consecutive year, but it was close this year. Notts and Derbys tied with 8 points but, under the rules, Notts were declared winners as, in the match against Derbys, Notts won 6:0.

However, from 2014 the points awarded will be 3 points for a win and 1 point for a half, so we will need to get off to a good start next April when we have 2 league matches.

Well done girls!
