Nippers Tour

This has been the first year that NCLGA have closely supported the Nippers Tour, which is very successfully run by the Notts Golf Union for boys and girls aged under 12.

The final event of the season was held on 21st August at Trent Lock and the overall winner of the under 9 age group in the order of merit for the tour was Ankita Anand from Edwalton.

Ankita is pictured along with Leonie Muir from Wollaton who both qualified for the Nippers Tour "Ryder Cup" event on Tuesday 26th August, when the Nippers take on the Shropshire and Herefordshire Pee-wees at Wollaton Park Golf club. Good luck girls!

Friendly Match v Yorkshire 2014

The Mid Handicap Girls played a Friendly Match v Yorkshire girls at Newark GC on Sunday June 8th. Eight girls with handicaps from 12 - 25 had a good day and enjoyed playing their matches in nice sunny weather, which lasted until the journey home, when the heavens opened! The result this year was a 5 : 3 victory to Yorkshire.

League Match v Staffordshire 2014

On Sunday 29th June the junior scratch team kept their heads and carried on their winning streak with a 5-1 victory against Staffordshire Girls, on a showery afternoon at Trent Lock.

Staffordshire were only able to bring one player for the handicap team so Jessica Bailey had a difficult job giving 18 shots; she fought hard but her opponent managed to win the match. The remainder of our handicap team, Emma Anderson, Jacey Peacock and Amie Whelan played 2-way matchplay between each other and Jacey Peacock was the winner.

Notts Girls & Intermediate Championships 2014

The Girls & Intermediate Championships were held at Retford Golf Club on Sunday 11th May with 25 competitors playing.

England Golf Regional Coaching Squads

The application forms for the England Golf Regional Coaching Squads are now available for any County players who may wish to apply.

Successful applicants will be invited to attend a selection weekend at their own expense on one of the arranged weekends in September 2014, subject to confirmation of local venues. Forms must be returned by 22nd August (U16) and 29th August (U18).

Friendly Match v Mapperley 2014

A team of 8 girls with handicaps ranging from 12 to 26 played against the Mapperley Ladies in a greensome matchplay format.

They all played well and it was good to see how well they worked together as partners - discussing the shots with each other. There is much experience to be gained by playing on a not too familiar course and having to cope with the tricky contours. Also it is good practice to be playing greensomes as this is similar to the foursomes format which is an important part of the ladies inter-county matches.

We are grateful to the Mapperley Ladies for hosting this match and providing the meals. A vote of thanks was given by Emma Anderson as acting Captain for the day.

Friendly Match v Warwickshire 2014

The Notts junior girls played a friendly match against Warwickshire at Nuneaton Golf Club on Saturday 28th June. The course was in fine condition and the match was played in a wonderfully friendly spirit. The Notts team was: Eliza Davidson, Eleanor Bailey, Charly Robertson, Laura Abbott, Katie Robertson and Georgia Viggers.

Congratulations to them all on a wonderful 5-1victory.

League Match v Leicestershire 2014

On Sunday 13th April the junior team scored another convincing victory, in their league matches, with a fantastic 6-0 win against Leicestershire Girls at Longcliffe.

It was a cold and blustery start and the girls all played some excellent golf with Rhiannon Linacre, as acting captain, setting a fine example with an early win.

The handicap team of four fought hard for a very good 3-1 win.
