Midlands Schools Girls Championship

The Midland Schools Championships were held at The Shropshire Golf Centre on Friday 3rd June 2022. Congratulations to Elizabeth Wilson tho won the girls competition and also Jorja Newbold who finished in 3rd place. Well done girls! Elizabeth and Jorja Midland Schools

Girls & Intermediate Championships 2022

Champs AmeliaThe 2022 Girls and Intermediate County Championships were held on Sunday 29th May at Beeston Fields Golf Club. Thank you to all of those who took part and to Beeson Fields for the use of the course. Thanks also to Maureen Clarke for refereeing and County Captain Audrey Macmillan for awarding the prizes, not forgetting Suzi Anderson for the organisation and computer work in publishing the results.

The Girls U18 and U16 Championships were won by Amelia Wan with a gross score of 72; U18 runner-up was Elizabeth Wilson, who also won the U14 Notts Scratch trophy. The Intermediate Scratch Champion was Ava Waplington with a gross 73. The Notts U18 Handicap Champion (Hcp 10+) was Amelia Hogg with a nett 76. Amelia Wan is our qualifier for the Justin Rose Telegraph Junior Golf Championship. The 9 hole winner was Holly Wilson with 22 points.

Rules Talk with Maureen

Rules TalkOn Wednesday 11th May the scratch and handicap squads enjoyed a rules session with referee Maureen Clarke . Thank you so much to her for the interesting talk, and for the information and 'hot tips' which could be invaluable to the girls when playing singles matches.

Second Team Match v Lincs 2022

Notts V Lincs Handicap 1The handicap team match against Lincolnshire was played at Oakmere Park on Sunday 8th May and the match resulted in a draw.  A huge thank you to Jorja Newbold for giving the girls advice on her home course  during the practice session on Thursday and also for coming to support the match.

The Nottinghamshire team was Millie Marsh, Amelia Hogg, Maddison Clarke, Harriet Williams, Scarlett Dunn and Freya Keal - well done to them all!

Second Team Match v Leics 2022

Second Team v Leics AThe handicap team match against Leicestershire was played at Scraptoft Golf Club on Sunday 24th April 2022. Well done to all the team who enjoyed a great 3:2 victory in their first match of the season. The team were Millie Marsh, Amelia Hogg, Madison Clarke, Scarlet Dunn, Harriet Williams and Emily Toft-Brown.

Many thanks to all the girls and their parents who helped on the day.

Congratulations Elizabeth Wilson

Elizabeth Wilson AWell done to Elizabeth Wilson (Norwood Park) on winning the R&A Liz Pook Trophy for the U14 Girls Amateur Championship at Enville Golf Club, with a total score of 230 (77, 75, 78), to win by 2 shots. The competition was played over 54 holes from 22nd to 24th April 2022 and conditions were pretty tough with gusty winds to contend with.

She also finished tied 12th in the U16 Championship, against an international field.

Congratulations Amelia Wan

Amelia Wan ACongratulations to Amelia Wan (Sherwood Forest)  who won the 2022 Midland U16 Girls Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship, played at Hawkstone Park from 13th to 14th April. Amelia won with a 54 hole total of 216 to win by 4 shots. First Round scores were also qualifiers for the Justin Rose Telegraph Junior Golf Championships which provided an extra edge for players to get off to a good start to the competition. Amelia recorded the best round on the Hawkstone Course with a 71 so will be entered onto the season long leader board at the Telegraph in the hope of qualifying for the final.

Elizabeth Wilson (Norwood Park) finished in third place on 222 - well done to both girls!

 

Mixed Am-Am 2022

Am Am Winners AThe fundraising Mixed Am-Am competition was played at Ruddington Grange on Sunday 3rd April 2022. It was a very successful day and many thanks go to all of those who supported the event. The course was in great condition and Ruddington Grange were excellent hosts. All proceeds from the day will go to coaching for the girls. 

Prizes were presented by Junior Captain, Maddie Smith. The winning team, with 78 points were: Tom Cooper, Robert Hedworth, Lauren Ecob and Lucy Clark, all from Rushcliffe GC. Runners Up, with 70 points were: Jeff Hooley, Den Burgin, Jan Hooley and Judy Burgin from Stanton on the Wolds. Winner of the putting competition was Gary Speed from Sherwood Forest.
