Tasker's Trophy Presentation 2018
The Tasker's Trophy is an inter-club golf competition for the over 50s which supports Junior Golf in your County. The 2018 Final was played at Beeston Fields Golf Club on Sunday 21 October. It was a beautiful, warm Autumn day. The final of the ladies’ Ian Burtoft Trophy was Branston vs Lees Hall. Branston won 4/3. Branston won for the second year in a row – the first time this has happened in the history of the event. The men’s Taskers Final and Plate were also played and the Uttoxeter C Team beat Lutterworth B in the Final 4/3; the deciding match going to the 20th hole. Uttoxeter A beat Mapperley C 6/1 in the Plate. The Taskers Plate is for all men’s teams that get knocked out in the first round. If a few more ladies’ teams enter, the ladies will be able to have a ladies’ Plate competition as well.
100% of the money raised in 2018 has been donated to the Junior Funds of the Counties that participated. As a result of Clubs entering ladies’ teams in this event, the Nottinghamshire County Ladies’ Junior Section receives funding which is proportional to the number of ladies’ teams entered from Nottinghamshire. This resulted in NCLGA receiving a donation of £850, slightly more than last year because more ladies’ teams had entered. I would like to encourage all Clubs to enter as many ladies’ teams as they can. It is a great event to play in because teams have the opportunity and pleasure of playing other teams from other courses in this County and the surrounding Counties. It’s a win, win situation and. if more ladies’ teams enter from Nottinghamshire, more money will be received by our County Junior Girls at the end of the year.
120 players and County Officials were treated to an excellent roast beef dinner with all the trimmings, apple tart and coffee or tea and mints at Beeston Fields Golf Club. The prize-giving then took place and the County Presidents received the donation to their County Juniors. It was a wonderful event and I have sent thanks to the Taskers organisers for continuing to sponsor and run the tournament and raise funds for Junior Golf.
