County Mixed Pairs 2018

78 pairs entered the competition and the scoring was of a high quality. The course was in immaculate condition and befits its championship standard. The players were very complimentary and were delighted for the way it was set up for a field of mixed handicaps.
Graeme Macdonald the Head Green Keeper at Newark Golf Club ran out the winner with his late replacement partner Rina Ozolins, also from Newark, scoring an impressive 47 points in the better ball stableford format. Runners up with 44 points, winning on the back 9, were Rushcliffe man and wife pair of Jean and John Makin, while in third spot from The Nottinghamshire were Reg Lumbis and Helen Haycox with 44 points.

Many thanks to Coxmoor Golf Club for hosting the event; the golf club is already very busy with the English Seniors Championship taking place in early June and the England Golf 10 counties regional qualifier in the middle of June, they are also building a new clubhouse which is due for competition in December. Next year’s event takes place at Newark Golf Club and we are sure Graeme will want to defend his title on his home course.
