Second Team Away Match v Leicestershire 2014

NottsvLeics14bThe return match for the 2nd team against Leicestershire was away at Longcliffe on Thursday 24th July. The weather was again perfect for golf. The course was in excellent condition and some of the players were paying their first visit there.

In the morning foursomes Emily Cheshire played top with Laura Morris, followed by Caron Harrison and Andrea Stockdale and then by Carol Houghton and Glenys Priestley. All three pairs achieved comfortable wins to give Nottinghamshire a 3 - 0 lead going into lunch.
The Nottinghamshire players kept up the good work in the afternoon winning 5 out of the 6 singles matches and all of these before the 15th hole. Leicestershire's only point of the day came from Alice Watson who continued her good golf from the previous match on Sunday where she was level par.

Nottinghamshire's win over Leicestershire by 8 points to 1 gives them a fighting chance to get through to the finals at Stoke Rochford on 29th August where the winners of our half of the midland north region play the winners of the other half. Our main opponent towards achieving this will be Lincolnshire who will have to win both their matches still to be played against Leicestershire and achieve 13 games in the process.

We wait with interest!

As this is the last match of the 4 in our league my thanks go to all the players who have represented us so far, to my assistant vice captain Pam Loch for her support throughout, and to our Lady President Joan Underwood who has also supported the matches.
