Match v Sheffield Union 2021

On Monday the 19th April we managed to play a county match for the first time since September 2019; needless to say there was much excitement and some nerves (on my part). The weather was beautiful for our afternoon tee off at The Nottinghamshire Golf and Country Club. The Signature Course at The Nottinghamshire has undergone many improvements of late and was in very good condition, the pin positions proved to be challenging.

Our team was made up of experienced ‘old hands’ and some of our up and coming junior talent. It really was good to see the pairs all waiting to tee off and get their matches underway. From various vantage points on the course the spectators were able to witness some sparkling golf, it really was an enjoyable afternoon which was rounded off by a fabulous result – we won all 5 matches. The scratch match played was pairs better ball and the team representing NCLGA was as follows: Carol Houghton and Jorja Newbold, Caron Harrison and Ava Waplington, Vicky Johnson and Leonie Muir, Libby Kilbride and Bernie Barton and last but certainly not least Emma Anderson and Lucy Moorhouse. Well done to the team!

My sincere thanks go to the players, the parents who are so helpful in ferrying their youngsters to and fro, Audrey Macmillan our Senior Vice Captain (for keeping me on track) and finally The Nottinghamshire who kindly agreed that we could host the match there at late notice and under the current difficult circumstances.
