Midlands North Festival of Golf 2018

Festival 1aOnce again the Festival of Golf, held at Trent Lock Golf Club on 20th August, was a great day for all the players, with Nottinghamshire entering a first team, handicap team and 9 hole players in the events during the day. The first team of Charlie, Maddie, Lucy, Eva, and Amelia Wan played hard only narrowly losing the overall match 2:3 against Derbyshire, but showing great determination along with a good team spirit and it was good to see the team supporting their players at the end of their games.

The handicap team of Jorja, Elizabeth, Lexi, Rachel and Lucy reversed the previous result winning 3:2 in an equally close contest with two of the games finishing all square in well fought battles. Well done to Lexi and Elizabeth on making their first appearance for the county teams, and also to Amelia Hogg on her debut in match play competition, playing a friendly against a Derbyshire player.

Festival 2aIn addition to the matches, 4 of our younger and less experienced players, Maddison, Freya, Holly and Isabelle, had a great time on the 9 hole course and demonstrated what depth we are developing to the county squad with some fantastic performances and personal bests. While we didn’t win any of the major trophies this year, Lucy and Isabelle, both got a ‘hole in one’ on the putting competition.  Eva won the 18 hole longest drive with a phenomenal drive and Emma standing in on the CJO competition won the CJO pirate golf.  Great to see that Notts. didn’t leave empty handed.

The real delight of the day is seeing the strength that is building in the Nottinghamshire team, not all our squad were able to play today but we still we had a fantastic showing of girls who battled consistently through the day.  Not only that but the team spirit was very evident today and you were all a credit to the county.

The next and final summer coaching session is on Saturday September 15th (9:00 – 10:30 and 10:30 – 12:00)
